If you’re looking for a tough, reliable line that won’t cost you the earth, then Carp Line is definitely the one for you! During testing Carp Line has already become a firm favourite with those who got their hands on the samples, including Elliott Gray and it is now his line of choice when fishing with mono. It is amongst the toughest lines on the market, without being problematic to use, and in any situation where weed or snags come into play it should definitely be your first choice to spool up with. It will handle weed, gravel bars and mussels better than most lines, but if there are signs of abrasion then it is also cheap to re-spool, as it comes on 1000m spools priced at just £12.99 – the price and spool size is the same for each of the five breaking strains available, 8lb, 10lb, 12lb, 15lb and 20lb. The line sinks well, even more so once it has been used a few times, and is a nice subtle SUB-green colour which blends in well with most lake beds and is hard to see even in clear water. For such a tough line it behaves well on the spool and casts well, plus gives a very high knot strength. The low stretch factor makes it ideal for feeling the lead down to the bottom and making sure you get that ‘donk’ and are confident in where your rig has landed. Damian Clarke, who was involved in designing the line, enthused: “With lots of our products, especially fishing lines, we work with some of the best manufacturers in the world. “These guys are pushingthe boundaries in manufacturing to create thinner, lighter and more technically advanced monofilaments, but with Carp Line we took a step back. “Some anglers just wanted something simple and reliable, a does what it says on the tin product, so Carp Line was born!”
Compac 125, Compac is the ultimate in tackle storage, keeping items you take fishing neat, organised and handy when you need them. This range of EVA luggage is extremely lightweight and durable, and is made from a waterproof material with welded seams. Each item in the range can be accessed from the top via a two-way zip, and opens in a way which allows you to see everything inside, plus this lid also has an interior zipped mesh pocket for keeping anything that you need instant access to – such as a baiting needle and boilie stops. Currently there are four items in the Compac range – Compac100, Compac125, Compac140 and Compac200 – which will cover everything from storing smaller items such as leads; through to the mid-sized storage systems which are ideal for spools of hook link material, a TackleSafe or Mini RigSafe, or even to keep all your bits for a certain style of fishing, such as on the surface or stalking, altogether in one place so you can grab it when you need it; the largest size can easily accommodate spods, marker floats, bottles of Goo, Chod Safe, Zig Box, or countless other items.
Kurv Shank XX, The Kurv Shank XX is two wire gauges thicker than the standard Kurv Shank hook. It has been designed, developed and tested for use in the most demanding of fishing situations in the world, while still retaining an ultra-sharp point and micro barb. Just like it's thinner brethren, the Kurv Shank XX is an aggressive hooker, needing no shrink tube to guarantee great hook holds.
SUBbraid, This is a super-fast-sinking main line braid that's available in a subtle SUB-green colouring and two breaking strains. It attracted plenty of acclaim during the exhaustive testing period, with Elliott Gray in particular becoming a huge advocate. Aside from its unrivalled sinking properties, SUBbraid has no stretch, which means that feeling for the drop becomes even more advantageous. The braid transmits tiny lake-bed details back to the rod on the drop, and when pulled back, allowing you to clip up to a spot without getting the marker rod out of the bag! If you find yourself on fish in an unfamiliar swim, then being able to feel for that critical drop with absolute assurance is such an edge! SUBbraid should be used with a leader of some description, to protect the flanks of our precious quarry. This can be the fluorocarbon that Elliott and James Turner prefer, which also gives a little buffer during the fight, or a length of leadcore or tubing sufficient to prevent the braid from coming into contact with the carp's flanks. SUBbraid is available in 15lb and 20lb, on spools holding 1200m and 450m.
