If you’re looking for a tough, reliable line that won’t cost you the earth, then Carp Line is definitely the one for you! During testing Carp Line has already become a firm favourite with those who got their hands on the samples, including Elliott Gray and it is now his line of choice when fishing with mono. It is amongst the toughest lines on the market, without being problematic to use, and in any situation where weed or snags come into play it should definitely be your first choice to spool up with. It will handle weed, gravel bars and mussels better than most lines, but if there are signs of abrasion then it is also cheap to re-spool, as it comes on 1000m spools priced at just £12.99 – the price and spool size is the same for each of the five breaking strains available, 8lb, 10lb, 12lb, 15lb and 20lb. The line sinks well, even more so once it has been used a few times, and is a nice subtle SUB-green colour which blends in well with most lake beds and is hard to see even in clear water. For such a tough line it behaves well on the spool and casts well, plus gives a very high knot strength. The low stretch factor makes it ideal for feeling the lead down to the bottom and making sure you get that ‘donk’ and are confident in where your rig has landed. Damian Clarke, who was involved in designing the line, enthused: “With lots of our products, especially fishing lines, we work with some of the best manufacturers in the world. “These guys are pushingthe boundaries in manufacturing to create thinner, lighter and more technically advanced monofilaments, but with Carp Line we took a step back. “Some anglers just wanted something simple and reliable, a does what it says on the tin product, so Carp Line was born!”
Commercial Cage Feeder, The updated Commercial Cage Feeder is the latest addition to the growing range. They're super-versatile and will appeal to both commercial match anglers and specimen hunters, targeting the rivers in search of chub, barbel and bream. The development team carried forward what they'd learnt from our much loved cage feeders and applied it to these ultra-tough improved versions, of which there are four sizes. The most important aspect is the weight-forward design, which makes for accurate, long casting, followed closely by the enlarged holes in the frame that allow for super-quick bait discharge. These feeders are the perfect baiting tools when targeting shallow island margins for F1s on commercials and the design allows for explosive bait release, which in turn allows you to get even quicker bites. The cage feeders share the same advanced-camou colouration as the Pellet and Method feeders, a subtle blend that allows the feeders to melt into the lake or riverbed and not arouse the suspicions of the feeding fish. These feeders will take pellets, groundbait, chopped worms, casters and even cubes of luncheon meat making them true all-rounders.
Guru Landing Nets, These four different landing net heads will cover any fishing situation that you’re likely to find yourself in, either on a commercial or when fishing matches on rivers and canals. The Speed 400, Speed 500, Competition 500 and Dual 550 models will handle everything from netting silver fish on light tackle through to bundling big carp into them, and there is an appropriate size and type of mesh for pretty much anything. The Competition 500 has the finest mesh at 2mm and is perfect for hair-rigged baits as they can’t get caught in the mesh, often destroying your rig in the process! The two Speed nets have a 6mm mesh to make them incredibly maneuverable through the water. The Dual 550 offers the best of both, with a 6mm mesh body for ease of netting, but with a 2mm mesh base for practicality and fish comfort. This is the largest model so suitable for specimen angling and larger carp. The alloy frames are incredibly strong, with a durable moulded spreader block and good quality screw thread complete with rubber washer so there is no twist when they’re attached to a net handle.
Wide Gape, The Wide Gape hook has become a true design classic, and has accounted for more big carp than any other pattern. It was based on the cult Maruta Kinryu pattern that found favour with the likes of Terry Hearn in the 1990s. The five-degree in-turned eye, short shank, heavily forged bend and beaked point combine to give anglers a hooked-to-landed ratio far in excess of anything else that's achievable. It can be used for pop-up and bottom-bait presentations and is the hook to opt for when fishing for the very biggest and trickiest carp around.
Kontour Fluorocarbon, It took three years of rigorous testing to develop a fluorocarbon main line that ticked all the boxes - one that casts unbelievably well, is invisible in water, sinks like a brick and is highly abrasion resistant. In fact, it's pretty much all Danny Fairbrass uses. Kontour, as it is known, is very soft compared to many other fluorocarbons, allowing it to quite literally peel from the spool smoothly as your lead flies through the air. This aids casting distance and accuracy. It is also particularly heavy, ensuring that it sinks to the lake bed keeping flush and out of the carp's way. Launched in one breaking strain, namely 12lb, it will be suitable for all manner of situations and due to its genuine knot strength will be strong, reliable and user friendly.
