The classic pear lead will cast a very very long way, almost as far as the Distance Casting and it is less affected by cross winds because the shape is very condensed. This means that the Pear lead is suited to most carp fishing situations when fishing anything up to the very limit of your casting ability. The dumpy shape can be used to your advantage in silt. Try using a very light pear lead say 1oz or 2oz and actually let the lead plug into the silt, this will dramatically increase the resistance to a carp moving away with the rig, so what feels like a light lead in your hand is transformed into a heavy lead in the fishing situation. Because the lead has a large rounded end it makes 'feeling' the lead hit the bottom easier than more slender or pointed shapes. If you are new to this technique this lead will make the job easier. The pear lead is also ideal in a solid PVA bag because it can be pushed down into one of the corners. This makes the bag nose heavy and so more accurate.
Bait Umbrella, The compact Guru Bait Umbrella is perfect for protecting your bait and accessories from the elements. The umbrella and carry bag are manufactured from extra thick 210D material that gives superb performance. it also comes complete with a detachable angle lock for optimal rock-solid positioning. Plus, unlike other similar products, it comes with two poles as standard – a telescopic and accessory pole. The telescopic pole has a ground spike that can be pushed into a soft terrain and is ideal when extra height is required. The 60cm accessory pole is for use with seat box brackets and is excellent in windy conditions as it keeps the umbrella low and close to the side tray.
Funnel Web System Refill, Funnelweb's main function is to create a PVA bag of any size in the shortest time possible - bags can be made in less than 30 seconds, leaving any other system for dust. Funnel Web minimises wasted PVA making it the most cost-effective PVA bag system ever made. If you are not using it in your carp fishing, you're missing out! Once you have used all your PVA you should not throw away your system. Simply buy a Funnel Web refill pack and thread on another 5m or 10m. The refills are available in Hexmesh or Micromesh when youre using tiny baits in 5m or 20m lengths. Each refill is colour coded to match the correct PVA system.
Reaper Pole Section Retainer, You might be thinking that there isn’t really much that you can do with a pole sock, but this one has a few unique features which really make it stand out and will help you to fish more efficiently. To prevent your pole sliding forwards, most anglers attach either a pole sock or tulip flexing grip to their seatbox, but the Reaper combines the best of both. The Reaper features two pole socks and the clever design means that there is a tulip grip in-between them, so effectively you have a retainer that will hold three separate sections of pole. The frame is strong and durable, as are the ‘socks’ themselves, and there is plenty of protection around the edge of it to prevent any chance of damage to delicate pole sections, thanks to an EVA foam coating. The thick mesh used for the sock also provides plenty of protection for pole sections.Plus the socks are large enough that even the largest pole sections are easily located within them, with the depth of the sock made to make it as easy as possible, without having to pay too much attention whilst unshipping as you play a fish. The pole sock will hold anything from a single number four section, right the way up to a full 16m pole minus the top three. The Reaper pole section retainer is easily attached to seat box arms, and similar, via a universal metal screw thread.
Kamo Rig Tubing, Not only does rig tubing stop the hook link from wrapping around the main line on the cast preventing a tangle, it also stops the fish coming in contact with the line during the fight. This is a vital safety aspect of the rig which we feel should not be ignored. Our tubing has a matt finish, which makes it harder to see underwater and most importantly, easy to thread. It comes in three colours, all of which sink without the need for putty. Having said that, we have seen from the underwater footage that the better the rig is pinned to the lake bed the less scared the carp will be. It is also better to get the colour of the tube exactly right for the spot you are fishing and then weight it with extra putty. Our underwater experience tells us our colours are right and extra putty can only enhance the whole set up but is not as essential as getting the colour right.
