A lead system that betters the hooking qualities of an inline, yet casts like a lead clip, with all its safety benefits? It doesn't exist, right? Well, such a product has just arrived at Korda HQ. After what seems like ages in the development, the COG system is finally here, in physical form. COG stands for Centre of Gravity, which is a reference to the unique way that the hook link is attached to the heaviest part of the lead, giving instant, unparalleled hooking. Put simply, this system has been designed to convert more pick-ups into fish on the bank. When to use it then? Well, it's best used over firm lake beds like gravel, sand and firm silt, rather than weed, when you're better to reach for the Heli-Safe system. It can be cast every bit as far as a normal lead clip system, although when going for extreme range, it's worth dispensing with any PVA bags as the impact could force the half-swivel out of the lead. For margin work and placing from boats, the COG is simply unrivalled. Initially, there are just two lead shapes available, flat pear and distance, which should cover you for most fishing situations. The flat pear version is best used for closer range, lowering or dropping from a boat, whereas the distance version is the one to reach for if you're having to go long for your fish. One point well worth noting is that the COG boom sections are numbered (on the swivel) because it's essential that they are used with the correct lead. If you use the wrong boom with the wrong lead, the setup simply won't work as intended.
Dark Matter Putty, The release of Dark Matter Tungsten Putty brings rig putty into a new era. Gone are the days when you had to heat your putty on the kettle to make it workable - Dark Matter is super malleable, allowing easy moulding round swivels, Sinkers, tubing or main line. It's available in two camou colours, Weed Green and Gravel Brown, both of which are very subtle and will blend in over a range of lake bed conditions. Once you've used Dark Matter putty, you won't go back to using anything else.
Mixa Hook, The first dedicated floater fishing hook. These have been designed to hook even the shyest feeding carp on the surface. With a short shank, super-wide gape, beaked, offset point, they truly are made for the job. The final most noticeable point about these hooks is their sharpness: positively hypodermic is the best possible description. The guys at Korda have been using them for all manner of carp fishing situations as Ali Hamidi explained, They were initially designed for surface fishing, but great hook patterns like this, considering their sharpness and characteristics lend themselves to lots of fishing scenarios. They've been catching specimen Chub, Barbel and obviously loads of carp during testing. The Mixa hook is available in barbed and barbless versions, in size 6, 8, 10 & 12.
Commercial Cage Feeder, The updated Commercial Cage Feeder is the latest addition to the growing range. They're super-versatile and will appeal to both commercial match anglers and specimen hunters, targeting the rivers in search of chub, barbel and bream. The development team carried forward what they'd learnt from our much loved cage feeders and applied it to these ultra-tough improved versions, of which there are four sizes. The most important aspect is the weight-forward design, which makes for accurate, long casting, followed closely by the enlarged holes in the frame that allow for super-quick bait discharge. These feeders are the perfect baiting tools when targeting shallow island margins for F1s on commercials and the design allows for explosive bait release, which in turn allows you to get even quicker bites. The cage feeders share the same advanced-camou colouration as the Pellet and Method feeders, a subtle blend that allows the feeders to melt into the lake or riverbed and not arouse the suspicions of the feeding fish. These feeders will take pellets, groundbait, chopped worms, casters and even cubes of luncheon meat making them true all-rounders.
Subline Tapered Main Line, Tapered SUBline has all of SUBline's fast-sinking, abrasion resistant-properties, but the line tapers into an integral shock leader at each end. No knots are necessary. If you snap off and lose one, all you have to do is wind the line onto a new spool to reveal the other! Because there are no leader knots involved, the risk of frapping up' on big casts is massively reduced and there is nothing for weed to collect on or for a lead system to jam against. This line was designed for extreme-range casting, but the extra diameter also acts as a robust snag leader. Each tapering leader is 15 metres long, but can be cut down by a maximum of five metres for super-long range, when every last yard counts. Tapered SUBline is available in the following versions: 0.28mm - 0.50mm (8lb tapering to 40lb) 0.30mm - 0.50mm (10lb tapering to 40lb) 0.33mm - 0.50mm (12lb tapering to 40lb)
