Offering an integrated bait storage and protection system with four sizes of Push Punch, it’s the perfect solution to the problem of keeping bread and meat baits fresh along with an effective way of punching out hook baits.
Its uses range from commercial carping with punched boilie and meat hook baits or popped-up bread disks, to trotting or feeder fishing rivers with punched flake and meat offerings.
Guru brand manager Adam Rooney explains how the Guru Punch Box came about: “With the ever-increasing use of punched baits on the match scene, especially punched bread, the Guru team felt there was a gap in the market for a good quality bait punch that would be suitable for a wide range of baits.”
“To go alongside this we wanted to design a storage system to house the punches and the bait together. The storage system needed to make the bait easy assessable and, most importantly, keep the bait in perfect condition. After months of research an old product from 15-plus years ago sparked an idea.”
“Back in the day on canals the Image Bread Box was an essential piece of kit - it was a simple tray with a sliding lid, allowing you to store the bread, then slide the lid across, punch a piece out then simply slide it back, keeping your bread dry and in good condition.”
“With this in mind, the Guru team played around with a few ideas to come up with the perfect punched bait system. Integrating the sliding lid design to the new box, also included are four Push Punches in 6, 8, 10 and 12mm sizes, which clip neatly into the rear of the box.”
The lid is also tinted to protect baits like meat and bread from drying out in the sun, and rubber feet on the base prevent the punch box slipping on the side tray. The robust design is slim enough to fit easily inside carryalls or seat boxes without taking up much room.
The Push Punches have also been custom designed for the Punch Box with a plunger system to release bait with minimal effort – it can easily cut out and dispense multiple disks of bread or meat without any damage to the bait, for example.
The razor sharp cutting edge makes fast work of even harder baits such as boilies or pepperami and the stainless steel won’t rust or warp under pressure.
Dark Matter Leaders, Fused plastic leaders that have been tinted to precisely match the lake bed. They feature two tungsten bands along their length, which help to pin your tackle to the lake bed in the area of your rig. There are three types of leader available: ring swivel, Hybrid Lead Clip and Helicopter. Each leader is available in weedy green, gravel brown, clay and slit colours as well as clear. They are extremely robust too, with a breaking strain of 30lb.
X-Safe Speed Stems, Developed by top match anglers Steve Ringer, Adam Rooney and Pemb Wrighting, a feeder or lead equipped with the X-Safe Speed Stems allows for ultra-quick re-casts - all you need to do is unclip the whole feeder or lead from the main line and attach a new ready-to-go rig. Using this system, the Guru team have won countless matches this year with the Speed Stems allowing anglers to have multiple feeders or leads set up and ready to recast within seconds of a fish or bringing a rig in, saving valuable minutes over the course of a match or pleasure session when speed is the key. Also incorporated into the stems is a Speed Bead, which allows hook lengths to be changed in seconds via a small quick-change swivel which pulls back into the bead to secure it to the rig. The stems fit Guru's existing method, pellet and Hybrid feeders and the inline lead range, easily slotting into the existing holes to make an instant quick change, elasticated feeder or lead set-up. Just tie a small loop onto the main line, secure it to the stem via the streamlined crook and small tail rubber, and it's ready to go. The X-Safe is the only safe elasticated system on the market, with the whole elasticated section easily pulling through the stem so any fish lost due to a main line breakage or picking up a cracked-off rig will be able to easily lose the feeder or lead. Top fisheries such as White Acres have recognised this safety aspect and now insist that anglers use the X-Safe system. The stems are available in two lengths for short and medium to long-range fishing and two elastic strengths black and white for targeting smaller or larger fish. For example, the black (heavy) elastic is great for larger carp and big bream whilst the lighter white version is perfect for F1s, bream, skimmers and smaller carp.
Aventus 13ft Distance Feeder, The 13ft Distance Feeder in the Aventus range is designed to combine many assets - distance, accuracy, durability and playing action. Made to Tackle Guru specifications by Daiwa in the renowned UK facilities using the highest quality Japanese carbon and most up-to-date rod technology. Three piece, folding down neatly for use in a Fusion Rod Holdall. Supplied with three carbon distance quiver tips with large guides to allow easy pass-through of shock leader knots - 1.5oz, 2oz and 3oz. The rod has a casting weight of 150g, and is capable of achieving distances of 100m plus with the right gear and technique used. In both our distance rods, 12ft and 13ft, we wanted to produce a tool that would help anglers cast further, accurately, with ease. However, the rods still needed to have a playing action to allow them to target all kinds of fish, from roach and skimmers in Ireland and on naturals, to big carp on vast UK commercials at distance on Method and Hybrid Feeders.Like the whole of the Aventus range, this rod has complete all-round capabilities. At home fishing for carp on large commercials in the summer months when big fish and big weights are on the cards at distance, while equally comfortable for catching skimmers and f1s in the winter or silvers on natural venues. The 13ft rod in particular has been put through paces on big tidal rivers throughout the UK and Europe, withstanding everything we could possibly throw at it!A crisp, progressive action means the rod has lots of power when needed, especially in the bottom end for distance, while withholding a fish playing action that prevents hook pulls when fishing lighter lines and finer tackle. The rod features oversized top-spec Fuji Alconite K-Guides, bullet proof, super durable, and designed to prevent frap-ups and tangles. All guides are strategically positioned to give the rod the perfect compression, casting and playing action. The guides and size of guides are unique to the rod - each rod in the Aventus range has different sizes guides placed at different points to help the rod perform to 100 per cent of its capability. An A-Grade Cork handle is ultra comfortable and hardwearing, featuring the Armlock design to give you ultimate fish-playing control. Finished off with a Fuji DPS real seat. The butt of the rod is completed with a moulded bespoke Guru EVA hand grip, with finger moulds to help hand positioning on the cast, enabling maximum compression, distance and accuracy to be achieved with ease!A key feature is the length of the handles - longer than normal to again help casing distance and accuracy. More leverage and power can be gained from the longer handle, helping anglers be more accurate and cast further.A unique and key asset to the Aventus project is Zero 90 carbon technology. This process involves double layering carbon fibres in different ways from zero to 90 degrees. When cured, this gives rods combined longitudinal strength, recovery and crispness. The tubular shape of any fishing rod is deformed when compressed. Zero 90 technology enables us to control this deformation, preventing energy and accuracy loss, retaining the cylindrical structure to give more casting power and precision.
