Based on the same cutting-edge technology that has made the range of Hybrid feeders a huge hit this summer, the new 24g model boasts a super compact design with the weight built into the body of the feeder, allowing excellent casting and hooking properties. Our current range of pellet feeders have served us well, explains Adam Rooney. But there has always been a gap in the range for a mini version however, we found it hard to create a smaller version with sufficient weight. With the birth of the recent Hybrid feeder, which is made using a new type of material where the weight is in the body of the feeder, rather than being a separate weight, it made it possible to produce a feeder with the correct weight to make it efficient and useable in most fishing situations. Using the new material benefits the new Mini Pellet Feeder in many ways. The durable camo paint finish blends into any lake bed and the flared design allows for easy loading and quick release of bait and scent into the water. Slots in the top of the feeder and holes in the base, as seen on the Hybrid range, allow the water to reach the pellets to start breaking down quickly after casting. The unbreakable design has been perfected over many months of testing by Adam Rooney, Pemb Wrighting, Steve Ringer and the Guru team and the feeders are X-Safe compatible, meaning they can be used with Guru's safe elasticated stem system. To compliment the new pellet feeder and recently-launched Hybrid range, the X-Safe Speed Stem range has also seen some new additions in the form of short and long stems with options for heavy and light elastics, allowing greater flexibility. The stems will fit all of Guru's X-Safe compatible feeders. Look out for more on the new pellet feeder on the Guru social media channels and this website over the coming weeks both the Mini Pellet Feeder and range of X-Safe Stems be in tackle shops from late September with an RRP of 2.49.
Longshank X, Based on the dimensions of the legendary fly hooks, like the B175, that found favour in the emerging big-carp scene, the Longshank X is perfect for tackling ultra-riggy fish on pressured waters. The 20-degree in-turned eye helps it to flip over and catch hold faster than any other hook and the long, straight point ensures good hook holds, time and again. Forging on the bend makes the Longshank X a formidable pattern, that won't let you down in tough, snaggy conditions. It can be used for pop-up and bottom-bait presentations.
Overweights, Damian Clarke designed these super-slick additional weights for fishing at long range, or with tight lines. Because the length of the Stow bobbin has to stay the same to ensure that they drop away on the bite, Damian had to find a way to add weight without adding length. The Overweights are the result. They slide over the weight that is supplied with the Stow heads. An internal shoulder stops them from sliding up and down the head. Overweights are available in 6 gram and 8 gram versions and in packs of two or three.
COG System, A lead system that betters the hooking qualities of an inline, yet casts like a lead clip, with all its safety benefits? It doesn't exist, right? Well, such a product has just arrived at Korda HQ. After what seems like ages in the development, the COG system is finally here, in physical form. COG stands for Centre of Gravity, which is a reference to the unique way that the hook link is attached to the heaviest part of the lead, giving instant, unparalleled hooking. Put simply, this system has been designed to convert more pick-ups into fish on the bank. When to use it then? Well, it's best used over firm lake beds like gravel, sand and firm silt, rather than weed, when you're better to reach for the Heli-Safe system. It can be cast every bit as far as a normal lead clip system, although when going for extreme range, it's worth dispensing with any PVA bags as the impact could force the half-swivel out of the lead. For margin work and placing from boats, the COG is simply unrivalled. Initially, there are just two lead shapes available, flat pear and distance, which should cover you for most fishing situations. The flat pear version is best used for closer range, lowering or dropping from a boat, whereas the distance version is the one to reach for if you're having to go long for your fish. One point well worth noting is that the COG boom sections are numbered (on the swivel) because it's essential that they are used with the correct lead. If you use the wrong boom with the wrong lead, the setup simply won't work as intended.
