Dorchester Lake (Abingdon and Oxford Anglers Alliance) has sadly lost several of its most sought after specimens to Otter predation prior to our offer for fencing, an extended ‘planning’ issue delayed the fences installation but it is now set to be completed by spring 2018, so it's remaining jewels will be safe forever. Embryo are also donating five ‘special’ Priory Fisheries mid doubles to this venue to help rebuild its stock without changing its unique atmosphere. The second venue is Colchester Angling Preservation Society’s ‘Bovington’ Lakes. CAPS are a hugely worthy club who provide a huge range of open access fishing for a big membership.
I have always been inspired by the amazing angling photography on Instagram so it felt fitting to invite budding photographers from all over the globe to submit their best shots for 2018. We had well over 5000 entries and choosing the final 12 was nigh on impossible because there were so many spell-binding images. Thanks to all who entered, the overwhelming response has cemented this calendar as an annual event, which is set to hopefully become a carp angling institution that keeps doing good year after year.
Thank you for supporting Embryo by purchasing this calendar, I hope you enjoy the incredible images and use the moon phase calendar and top tips from our best anglers to put extra fish in your landing net.
Every calendar will create one meter of fencing for a lake that cannot afford it themselves so your money is literally saving a fishes life…..
IQ2 Fluorocarbon, IQ2 Fluorocarbon is a softer version of our legendary IQ. This softness makes it a versatile hook link material, which gives free movement to even quite light hook baits, like a single grain of pop-up corn, or real maize. Just like the original IQ, IQ2 is nigh-on invisible in water. The way that light passes through the material is quite close to the way that it moves through water, rendering your hook links very difficult for carp to detect.
SkyLiner MkII Spod, A little while back, we re-vamped the design and colour to evolve the MKII. Firstly, the body of the spod has changed from black to a carpy green colour. We have also taken the front flights nearest the nose cone off, which means the spods flight will not be as badly affected in cross winds. In addition, all of our spods now come with detachable spod tails. These are stiff, which assists casting performance and also makes filling with bait much easier. The Korda Skyliner Spod MKII is a cross breed of all the best parts of modern day bait rockets. It is the result of many thousands of hours spent spodding by Team Korda. The combined design features give you a spod that: Casts further than anything in its class Loses very little feed out of the back Is less affected by cross winds, dumps the load quickly Is easily seen at any distance and retrieves so smoothly it feels like its not there. It also features a unique hole configuration makes the spod literally glide along the surface with virtually no resistance, this feature alone makes it miles better than the rest. The spod is easy to fill - we recommend a mix of particles like hemp and partiblend with some pellets and small or broken boilies as an ideal mix. The pellets will break down and form a stodgy mix, which causes a cloud effect in the water and stops any spillage out the bag of the spod in flight. Use a fairly long drop to get the rod working for you. The ideal drop would see the spod around level with the spigot of the rod if the rod were dead upright.
Baiting Needles, Baiting tools are an important part of any carp angler's kit, some people are happy to use one needle for everything. However, seeing as we are self-confessed perfectionists, we like to use exactly the right tools for the job. For that reason we have designed these little babies. We have produced the needles in mega-bright colours to minimise the chance of misplacing them. How many times have you dropped your baiting needle onto the grass and lost it? A lot I would guess. However, this is now completely eliminated with the super-bright handles on the Korda range of needles.
Square Lead, Rather than simply producing a standard bomb, which have remained largely unchanged since they were invented, Alex Bones decided to look at exactly what the modern angler needed from a lead. The Square leads are the result and they've been tailored to fishing on sloping lakebeds, such as those found around islands and margins. Because the fishing on many commercial waters now centres on these spots, it's vital that the lead can't roll down the slope when it's landed bang on the money. The flat sides of the square lead ensure that it won't. What's more, the dumpy, compact shape makes for the best bolt-rig effect possible, meaning that you'll hook more fish than with conventional leads. Because these leads are a little heavier than many used for match or pleasure fishing they are particularly effective at counteracting the drag effect of a PVA bag as it flies through the air. The Square leads are finished in with a coating that's been formulated to match the lakebed found in most commercial venues. There are three sizes of lead available, on third of an ounce, two thirds of an ounce and one ounce.
