Rather than simply producing a standard bomb, which have remained largely unchanged since they were invented, Alex Bones decided to look at exactly what the modern angler needed from a lead. The Square leads are the result and they've been tailored to fishing on sloping lakebeds, such as those found around islands and margins. Because the fishing on many commercial waters now centres on these spots, it's vital that the lead can't roll down the slope when it's landed bang on the money. The flat sides of the square lead ensure that it won't. What's more, the dumpy, compact shape makes for the best bolt-rig effect possible, meaning that you'll hook more fish than with conventional leads. Because these leads are a little heavier than many used for match or pleasure fishing they are particularly effective at counteracting the drag effect of a PVA bag as it flies through the air. The Square leads are finished in with a coating that's been formulated to match the lakebed found in most commercial venues. There are three sizes of lead available, on third of an ounce, two thirds of an ounce and one ounce.

The Micro Lead Clip is a mini version of the lead clips that specimen carp anglers have used for years. These clips have been sculpted so that the lines are smooth and resist tangles in flight. The Tail Rubbers fit perfectly flush with the body of the clip, further enhancing these anti-tangle properties. Perhaps most importantly, the Micro Lead Clips are completely fish safe, allowing the fish to ditch the lead should it become tethered. The colour has been chosen to best match the lakebed conditions found in lakes they practically disappear on the bottom, especially when feeding fish disturb the sediment around them. They are available in packs that contain ten clips, tail rubbers and swivels per pack representing great value for money!

Traditionally, there was no particular science to hook bait placement within the method ball and your bait could even become trapped inside or under the feeder frame. Guru has, quite literally, turned this upside down. Commercial master Steve Ringer engineered a groundbreaking hook bait platform, which sits on the opposite side of the feeder to the main weight loading, ensuring that the hook bait sits on top of the feeder cast after cast. The platform itself is positioned on X-shaped, vented arms that are configured to minimize tangles and allow maximum grip, ensuring that your groundbait can be loaded easily onto the feeder. One cast with a Guru Method Feeder and you'll understand why it's shaped like it is. The team made long, stable casting a real priority and the weight-forward design really delivers this. These feeders cut across testing crosswinds, like a dart, allowing you to consistently hit the spot, effortlessly building your swim. The colour of the frame is anything but an afterthought. Steve drew upon what he knows of the underwater environment to choose a colour that melts inconspicuously into most lake bed types. The unique X-Safe elastic system acts as a buffer during the fight, helping to reduce hook pulls at the net. Not only that, but thanks to the innovative design, it's 100 per cent safe for the fish. Should you lose a fish and leave it attached to the feeder, the elastic will simply pull free, allowing the fish to ditch the feeder. The Method feeders are available in four sizes and all sizes of feeder are completely interchangeable and spare elastics and tubes are available separately.

Based on the same cutting-edge technology that has made the range of Hybrid feeders a huge hit this summer, the new 24g model boasts a super compact design with the weight built into the body of the feeder, allowing excellent casting and hooking properties. Our current range of pellet feeders have served us well, explains Adam Rooney. But there has always been a gap in the range for a mini version however, we found it hard to create a smaller version with sufficient weight. With the birth of the recent Hybrid feeder, which is made using a new type of material where the weight is in the body of the feeder, rather than being a separate weight, it made it possible to produce a feeder with the correct weight to make it efficient and useable in most fishing situations. Using the new material benefits the new Mini Pellet Feeder in many ways. The durable camo paint finish blends into any lake bed and the flared design allows for easy loading and quick release of bait and scent into the water. Slots in the top of the feeder and holes in the base, as seen on the Hybrid range, allow the water to reach the pellets to start breaking down quickly after casting. The unbreakable design has been perfected over many months of testing by Adam Rooney, Pemb Wrighting, Steve Ringer and the Guru team and the feeders are X-Safe compatible, meaning they can be used with Guru's safe elasticated stem system. To compliment the new pellet feeder and recently-launched Hybrid range, the X-Safe Speed Stem range has also seen some new additions in the form of short and long stems with options for heavy and light elastics, allowing greater flexibility. The stems will fit all of Guru's X-Safe compatible feeders. Look out for more on the new pellet feeder on the Guru social media channels and this website over the coming weeks both the Mini Pellet Feeder and range of X-Safe Stems be in tackle shops from late September with an RRP of 2.49.

Push one of these cones into a bait box full of softened pellets and you can make a nice cluster of bait that can be threaded onto the hook link and cast out. Once on the lakebed, the pellets drop away from the hook link, depositing a mouthful of bait right where you want it, around the hook bait.

We can say without the slightest hint of hype that the new Specialist Gripper Feeders are the best river feeders available. Literally hundreds of hours of research, design and testing has gone into these beautiful feeders, and the list of attributes bears this out. Let's have a closer look at the features. Perhaps the cleverest is the anti-roll design, which means that the feeder stays the right way up in the very fastest of flows, ensuring perfect presentation. This design, coupled with the surprisingly low-profile of the feeders, increased surface area of the lead and protruding feet means that it'll grip extra well. You'll notice that the feeders are supplied with two rigid stems, one that allows them to be used as an inline system, and the other that allows it to be used as a conventional swivel-type feeder, either running, or semi-fixed on a lead clip. The robust plastic frame is overmoulded onto the lead, which makes it much more hardwearing than conventional feeders. The frame itself is tinted with a subtle camo colour, which blends perfectly with a whole host of lakebed conditions. The rigid stems and weight-forward shape make for a feeder that flies true and long, making casting to tight spots much easier. The Specialist Gripper Feeder is available in two sizes, large and medium, and in 1oz, 2oz, 3oz and 4oz versions.

Developed by top match anglers Steve Ringer, Adam Rooney and Pemb Wrighting, a feeder or lead equipped with the X-Safe Speed Stems allows for ultra-quick re-casts - all you need to do is unclip the whole feeder or lead from the main line and attach a new ready-to-go rig. Using this system, the Guru team have won countless matches this year with the Speed Stems allowing anglers to have multiple feeders or leads set up and ready to recast within seconds of a fish or bringing a rig in, saving valuable minutes over the course of a match or pleasure session when speed is the key. Also incorporated into the stems is a Speed Bead, which allows hook lengths to be changed in seconds via a small quick-change swivel which pulls back into the bead to secure it to the rig. The stems fit Guru's existing method, pellet and Hybrid feeders and the inline lead range, easily slotting into the existing holes to make an instant quick change, elasticated feeder or lead set-up. Just tie a small loop onto the main line, secure it to the stem via the streamlined crook and small tail rubber, and it's ready to go. The X-Safe is the only safe elasticated system on the market, with the whole elasticated section easily pulling through the stem so any fish lost due to a main line breakage or picking up a cracked-off rig will be able to easily lose the feeder or lead. Top fisheries such as White Acres have recognised this safety aspect and now insist that anglers use the X-Safe system. The stems are available in two lengths for short and medium to long-range fishing and two elastic strengths black and white for targeting smaller or larger fish. For example, the black (heavy) elastic is great for larger carp and big bream whilst the lighter white version is perfect for F1s, bream, skimmers and smaller carp.

The unique design features a contoured, raised lip that keeps the bait parcel enclosed, offering the benefits of both a method and pellet feeder style with great casting properties.Holes in the base and slits in the walls of the feeder allow water to break down the contents straight away after casting, quickly releasing attractants into the water column, and the hook bait will always be presented to a fish that tries to feed on the feeder’s contents. This results in more bites, sooner after casting out.The system is compatible with Guru’s X-Safe system – the only safe elasticated feeder system on the market – and the weight options (24-45g) and three sizes (mini, small and large) cover short, medium and long-range situations.

There are times when you don’t want as much bait as a Method feeder typically delivers, but do still need something near your hookbait, and this is where the new Guru Impact Bomb comes into its own.   The Impact Bomb is basically a flat pear shaped lead with a hole in the middle of it and a cage which bait can be pushed into, so that it will will stay in situ during the cast, with the majority of it ending up close to your hookbait – determined by how long your hook length is.   These bombs have a wide variety of different uses, both on lakes and rivers, and the ‘cage’ can be filled with Method mix or dampened pellets to deliver a scent trail close to your rig. This is especially useful when you are considering fishing a straight lead but still want some bait in the area, so will also be a good choice in the colder months.   They come in four different sizes – 2/3oz, 1.1oz, 1.5oz and 2oz – which covers everything from flicking a lead down the margins to fishing at longer range, or holding bottom on slower flowing rivers. Their shape and weight-forward design also means that they cast incredibly well, and accurately, and are less susceptible to catching a crosswind than a conventional Method feeder can be.   The Impact Bomb is finished in Guru’s ‘commercial camo’ coating and comes with a swivel attachment, making it suitable for use with a variety of different set ups, including on a lead clip, running on the main line, or on a paternoster.

The Method Feeder Clip simply clips onto the hookbait plate of any of the Method feeders in the Guru range, with different sizes designed to match the feeders – the large will fit the 28g and 45g feeders. As well as keeping your hookbait right in amongst your loosefeed, it also allows you to effectively fish very short hook links without the associated problems that usually accompany those – difficulty in tying them and increased potential for hook-pulls due to the close proximity of the feeder to the hook during the fight – as once a fish is hooked your hooklink will pull free from the Method Feeder Clip, and you will be back to playing it on your normal length of hooklink. It will also come in very useful on venues that ban bolt rigs as you can fish it with a running feeder, but still get the self-hooking effect that a bolt rig would give, as the clip grips the line until a fish is hooked. If you are using it with a pop-up then there is no need for any counter-balance weight, simply place the hooklink in the clip to set the required distance that you want your hookbait to sit above the loosefeed. Or you can use it to make sure that a bottom bait stays right in amongst the groundbait even once fish have disturbed it.This is going to be a big hit with match and pleasure anglers, but is also likely to find favour with specimen anglers who want to use the Method and fish very short hook links. This is one of those incredibly simple products which can make a big difference to your catch rate!

The updated Commercial Cage Feeder is the latest addition to the growing range. They're super-versatile and will appeal to both commercial match anglers and specimen hunters, targeting the rivers in search of chub, barbel and bream. The development team carried forward what they'd learnt from our much loved cage feeders and applied it to these ultra-tough improved versions, of which there are four sizes. The most important aspect is the weight-forward design, which makes for accurate, long casting, followed closely by the enlarged holes in the frame that allow for super-quick bait discharge. These feeders are the perfect baiting tools when targeting shallow island margins for F1s on commercials and the design allows for explosive bait release, which in turn allows you to get even quicker bites. The cage feeders share the same advanced-camou colouration as the Pellet and Method feeders, a subtle blend that allows the feeders to melt into the lake or riverbed and not arouse the suspicions of the feeding fish. These feeders will take pellets, groundbait, chopped worms, casters and even cubes of luncheon meat making them true all-rounders.
